NCATS Executive Director Selected to National Post

Gail Kluttz, Executive Director of the North Carolina Division of the American Trauma Society, has been selected by the National American Trauma Society to lead the state divisions. In her role, Ms. Kluttz will coordinate the efforts of the American Trauma Society’s state chapters to improve trauma care & promote injury prevention activities nationwide. “It’s a critical time for the ATS to share its message about the effects that trauma can have on people, both directly & indirectly,”  Ms. Kluttz noted. “We have great programs that we need to promote.”


 

North Carolina Announces Injury & Violence Prevention Strategic Plan

Together with partners from across the state, the NC Injury & Violence Prevention Branch of Public Health presents its first statewide strategic plan for preventing injuries and violence. The plan has six goals including the improvement of data collection & research, the building of the injury prevention community and the development of good policies & practice. New NC ATS Meeting Format

Starting with the 2011 calendar year, the NC Division of the ATS will change its meeting format. Instead of quarterly business meetings, NC ATS will hold educational meetings three time each year at selected sites around the state. The meetings will include several hours of free continuing education for most health care professionals.

 

The goal of new meeting format is to help NC ATS carry out its mission to increase public awareness of trauma & injury prevention. More information about dates, sites & topics will be posted later this year.


 

2010 NC ATS Injury Prevention Scholarships Chosen

The NC Division of the ATS has selected its 2010 Injury Prevention grant recipients. The NC ATS officers selected four project proposals that target different areas of injury prevention. Each project has the potential to be replicated in other areas around the state, and can provide a springboard for more injury prevention activities. Due to recent major events within NC, information regarding requesting and contacting the Wellness Resource Team has been provided.

 

How to Request the Wellness Resources Team:

 

For non-emergencies please email: WRT@SORTTEAM.org.  Any phone or email requests for help will be directed to a CISM-trained member. Help can be provided confidentially to any individual or group that requests assistance.

 

For emergencies: Call the 24-hour answering service, 336.760.6700. A WRT member will respond ASAP to assess what crisis intervention or other support services may be needed and activate other team members if an intervention is recommended.
